Last weekend, my family and I descended upon a stranger’s cabin in Lake Arrowhead…and made ourselves at home.
I was about to have my second great Airbnb experience.
What is Airbnb, you ask?
For hosts, it’s a way of meeting people from all over the world and making a little (or a lot) extra income by renting out their available spaces to travelers. These spaces include unique accommodations such as lofts, rooms, boats, villas, cabins, tree houses, condos, homes, castles or lighthouses.
For travelers, it’s a unique way of visiting a town and getting to know the people by renting out their accommodations. You also get those extra personal touches that you might not otherwise find at a hotel.
And heck, maybe you’ve always wanted to sleep in a tree house!
For Christmas, my hubby’s siblings & I decided to give their parents the gift of family quality time at Lake Arrowhead, so we rented out a beautiful 3 bedroom/1 loft/2 bathroom cabin in the heart of Lake Arrowhead for the weekend.
We were instantly taken with the gorgeous views of the lake & were thrilled with the short 5 minute drive to Lake Arrowhead Village.
Even though we had very little interaction with the owner, he made sure all of our questions were answered before we arrived, and he even waived the guest limit of 9 to 10 when we had a last minute addition.
The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, dishes and glasses. The owner also provided coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pop corn, a huge movie selection, video games, towels, extra sheets and blankets, shampoo, soap, hair dryers and magazines.
We really did feel at home and had a wonderful time!
If you enjoy meeting new people and like unique travel experiences, I highly recommend checking out Airbnb.com!
And don’t forget to sign the Guest Book before you leave! 🙂
How beautiful! Looks like fun!
We had a blast! Especially loved the snow. 🙂
My husband and I LOVE AirBnB. We have used it for 14 different homes (we stayed at 12 of them during our honeymoon.) We are done with hotels (until maybe we have kids!) but it really is the perfect way to travel. 🙂
Awesome! Where did you go on your honeymoon? The other time we used AirBnB was in Santa Barbara. Totally different experience, but loads of fun!
What a great idea! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Yes, definitely check it out! It’s amazing what kinds of accommodations are available! 🙂
